BEDFOLK
Could you tell us a little bit more about yourself and what made you start the business?

We were inspired to start Bedfolk whilst shopping bedding for our own home. Buying bed sheets is a confusing and uninspiring process. Visit a shop on the high street and you’ll find aisles of bedding options - all wrapped in plastic, and all looking the same.
We made it our mission to simplify things. We only sell four styles of bedding, each with a different weave and finish so customers just need to decide how they like their bedding to look and feel – rather than getting tangled up in thread counts and other confusing factors.
We take the stress out of the shopping experience because wind-down products should make you feel like you’re – er – winding down, rather than being overwhelmed by choice.

What inspires your work?

Think of your doctor in their favourite bathrobe. Your boss in PJs and fuzzy slippers. Elton John all curled up in bed. The point is – no matter what we do out in the world – we all eventually come home.
Our team is made from a bunch of comfort addicts and our mission is to help folk wind down well. Even if you don’t manage eight hours’ sleep, just elevating the experience can help with your overall wellbeing.

What is the most important thing for you in your business?

Our bedding uses the best quality 100% cotton / 100% linen, is ethically made and expertly woven, and is free from harmful chemicals. Those are the most important parts of our business. Our ethos is ‘buy less but buy well’.
We want people to enjoy a high-quality product that lasts, in a timeless colour palette that can be mixed and matched without effort. Not only does this reduce waste by eliminating outdated designs and poor quality, but it also means you can update your bedroom easily by layering our different products.

We really try to minimise our environmental impact wherever possible. Our bedding is made in our mill Portugal which (and we’re not exaggerating here) is one of the best in the world. Our sheets are certified Oeko-Tex (a higher standard than organic) and do not contain any chemicals or synthetics that may be harmful to you or the planet.

A little story or an anecdote you would like to share?

We visited the mill on our honeymoon – so you can say we’re pretty committed!
